Should we utilize psychotherapeutic algorithms (algorithmic therapists) to help people and reduce human suffering?
A new tool has been created, going on the direction of therapeutic algorithm. Mental health researchers have been using machine learning (ML) techniques to improve outcomes. For example, recent studies have reported high predictive accuracy in distinguishing patients with bipolar disorder from healthy individuals by using neurocognitive data, and biomarkers. Another work was able to predict which disordered patients would attempt suicide. This new approach to analyzing data is also being used in the context of psychotherapy, especially to predict responses to psychotherapeutic treatment or indications for psychotherapy.
In that situation I think that I agree with the idea of using an algorithm as a tool but on the other a=hand to which extent world it turs out helpful.
In this th=ime where studies alrady exist on the matter, t i think that the question isn’t if we will use it but how…
